It’s hard to recommend things because so much depends on a person and their interests, and I would name different things for different people. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to? So between my curiosity and the nature and intensity of the short-term ‘relationship’ of buying or selling a property, it becomes a very dynamic interaction that has a lot of energy, fun,and learning. On top of that, I have my share of hot takes on everything under the sun. I’m also a super curious person and love to get to know my clients and their world. What drives me are emotions and solving problems, and truly making something happen that improves the quality of my clients’ lives. I understand and respect its importance, and I protect it for my clients, but it’s not what motivates me. For one thing, I’m not really driven by money. It’s a bit of a generic-sounding thing to do in this town where you can throw a rock and, if you’re lucky, you’ll knock down a real estate agent or two, but because of my personality it’s anything but generic. I represent clients on the purchase and sale of their homes throughout Los Angeles, more often than not on the Westside. I say this to myself to engender gratitude and to appreciate that I am “on top of the world” and get revved up to do something with that fact.Ĭan you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others? So, when I wake up in the morning with another day ahead of me, or when I am tempted to succumb to negativity or feeling defeated, I turn to this phrase to remind myself how lucky I am to be alive, to be “on” the earth, as it were. But today, today I am on top of the world.” I am lying on top of the earth, on the crust. In this case, though, I chose to lay down on my back and just stare at the sky and take it all in.(Yes, I guess sometimes I’m that weird guy you see you lying on the ground - but honestly, there was no one around.) And then it occurred to me: “I am on top of the world. Sometimes I like to stand quietly when hiking so I can take in the sounds of nature rather than just the sounds of my feet and their crunch on the ground. I was up on the fabulous, ocean-view trail that starts at the top of Paseo Miramar in the Palisades, and I had been motoring up the very steep hills at a fast pace and wanted a break.

This first occurred to me when I was taking a solo hike one day, as I am prone to do when I want to collect my thoughts and connect with myself. When I say it to myself I mean it quite literally: I. It’s not an affirmation that is symbolic. It’s actually very personal and how it came into my mind as a mantra of sorts transforms it into something else.

When people ask how I am, I sometimes say “I’m on top of the world.” This may sound trite and have the irritating ring or hollow enthusiasm of someone who is trying to sell you something, but there’s a story behind it. Hi Peter, can you share a quote or affirmation with us? We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Turman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
